Bringing premium branding to massmarket goods is a growing trend that is definitely building momentum. The increase in demand for goods that are of higher value but which still find a mainstream market is referred to as “mass premiumization”. This trend is evident in a wide range of consumer goods including jewelry, clothing, wine and spirits, as well as candy and chocolates.
But how do you get a product to be perceived as a luxury item, while still appealing to the masses? When it comes to confectionery products, the answer is in the packaging. Suppliers of packaging and processing equipment are working with confectionery brand owners in order to help identify new opportunities.
